I met Jim Morris a few years ago and always enjoyed our honest conversations. In a world where cis-gendered, white men of a certain age are seen as the ‘problem,’ Jim is open to discussing some of the most significant challenges facing white men in diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Some feel as if they don’t have a role to play. Also, Jim was on the front lines when the former President’s Executive Order was issued to restrict the language of DEI practitioners and discredit critical race theory. He attempts to change that narrative so white men understand they have a role and a responsibility to be a part of the change – not just watching from the sidelines or gaslighting others as if there are no issues at all.
In this episode, Jim and I discuss the impact of the Presidential Order on restricting DEI language, White shame and trauma, and his book “Gaslights and Dog Whistles.” They discuss the impact of the Presidential Order, critical race theory, and white shame and trauma.
